JEWELRY CARE
To care for the jewelry and refrain from tarnishing, it is advisable to keep sprays, perfumes, cosmetics, and lotions away from your jewels. Avoid exposure to sea/pool water, heat and moisture.
If the jewelry comes in contact with water, perfume, sweat, or any other form of moisture, be sure to wipe and dry the piece immediately.
It is best to store your dry, unworn jewelry in a sealed bag, soft pouch, or jewelry box to avoid scratches as well. Additionally, make sure to remove it before engaging in activities such as swimming, heavy exercise, cleaning or cooking.
Gold plated jewelry
Do not try to polish your gold plated jewelry with a metal cleaner as it will remove the plating. You can use a mild soap and warm water with a soft cloth to dry the pieces.
Silver jewelry
Silver will patina over time with exposure to oxygen, moisture and saline environments. To bring back the bright sheen, our pieces can be polished with a silver cleaner (like Hagerty) and a soft cloth or paper towel. However, we recommend this natural remedy for silver jewelry you can easily do at home:
Baking soda and aluminum foil
Add boiling water and baking soda to a bowl layered with aluminum foil. Remove after 1-3 minutes, rinse under cool water and rub dry with a soft cloth. This process causes a chemical reaction that removes tarnish from the silver within second or minutes. Repeat if necessary.
Brass jewelry
Since brass is a metal alloy of copper and zinc, it will gradually patina over time with exposure to oxygen, moisture and saline environments. To bring back the bright sheen, our pieces can be polished with a brass cleaner (like Brasso) and a soft cloth or paper towel. However, using natural cleaning remedies for brass jewelry is a cost-effective and safe alternative to harsh chemical cleansers that are available. We recommend these three solutions:
Lemon and baking soda
Make a paste with a tablespoon of baking soda and the juice of half a lemon. Apply the paste with a soft cloth on the jewelry and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry with another soft cloth. Repeat the operation if necessary.
Flour, salt and white vinegar
Combine equal parts of flour, salt and white vinegar, stir until a homogeneous paste is obtained. Apply the paste with a soft cloth on the jewelry and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry with another soft cloth. Repeat the operation if necessary.
Lemon and salt
Combine the juice of one lemon and a heaping tablespoon of salt, mix well and impregnate a soft cloth with it. Rub the jewel with it and allow it to act for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry with another soft cloth. Repeat the operation if necessary.
If you are not satisfied with any of these cleaning solutions, we will repolish your brass or silver piece at no charge, you will only cover the shipping costs.
Gold plated jewelry cannot be repolished or it will lose the gold layer. If your gold plated jewelry has lost the gold layer due to wear, contact us and we will plate it again. You will cover the gold plating and shipping costs.
