Designer Notes and Details
This María Necklace pays homage to María Magdalena as a woman, a mother, a companion and a lover, disagreeing from her given virginal attributes in the bible. The pendant reminds us to a serpent's eye - symbol of intuition - and the garnet stone was intentionally chosen for its red bloody color.
Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing.
The pendant was carefully carved in wax, then casted and polished.
